Burisma Holdings, the largest independent gas producer in Ukraine, for the first time took part in the USAID project “Municipal energy reform in Ukraine.” At a seminar organized for regional media Burisma Holdings CFO Alexander Gorbunenko gave a lecture on improving energy efficiency through clean energy production in medium and large-sized cities as well as imports-and conventional energy resources cost reduction.
«The main objective of the USAID “Municipal energy reform in Ukraine” project is promoting energy security of our country. However, without raising awareness about the issue of Ukraine’s energy independence among journalists, it would be very difficult to reach out to regional authorities on potential introduction of energy-saving technologies. With this in mind, Burisma Holdings supported the educative idea of the project aimed at improving the level of knowledge about energy balance and enhancing overall understanding of the energy efficiency benefits. In the long run, it will only strengthen the economy and security of our country», said Alexander Gorbunenko.
Due to insufficient professional information on energy efficiency and the lack of regular relevant publications with expert opinions involving public into constant discussions, Burisma Holdings together with the Ukrainian Educational Center for reforms and the “Municipal Energy Reform Ukraine” project of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) announced “The contest for the best publication on energy efficiency and alternative sources of clean energy, the benefits of condominiums, tariff reform and social protection of the population”.
The contest invited journalists from seven regions of Ukraine – Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporozhye, Kherson, Vinnytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernihiv and Kyiv. Public announcement of the winners and prizes will take place during the official ceremony in April 2015.
