Kiev-Monte Carlo Electric Marathon 2015 of 2,800 km reached the finish line in Monaco yesterday, on June 10th.
Särtsuauto team from Estonia on Tesla S became the winner in “green race” and got the Grand Prix. Cenntro Auto team on GAZ M-20 (Pobeda) from Estonia got the first prize in the category of converted electric cars. The winner of the category hybrid car was the team Burisma on Opel Ampera. HSH Prince of Monaco Albert II and Mykola Zlochevskyi, the President of Burisma Holdings awarded the winner of Grand Prix. Hybrid car category winners were awarded by the vice – president of Electric Marathon Andrey Beliy and Baron Federico Bianchi.
Honorary Consul of Monaco in Estonia Jüri Tamm gave the Prince of Monaco Albert II a gift from mayor of Kyiv, the city where the marathon started.
Ukrainian teams on the Nissan Leaf and ZAZ received a special prize “For the will to the victory”.
6 teams participated in full distance of the race. The terms of the rally allowed everyone to join at any stage of the competition. The only condition was driving an electric or a hybrid vehicle. So, Marathon 2015 involved a record number of electric cars – 65 and 25 electric bikes.
Let us recall Electric Marathon is held for the 4th year already. The main goal of the marathon is development of environmentally friendly transport. The rally has officially started in Kiev this year. Two teams from Ukraine dropped out due to technical reasons at the competition.
Noteworthy is that many prominent people from Europe supported the current pan-European “Green Marathon”. In the city of Graz the Marathon was joined by Barone Federico Bianchi, who has been with the rally for a few years already. Rafael de Mestre, a famous Spaniard who travelled around the world in 80 days on his electric vehicle, also participated in the marathon.
“The fourth rally-marathon took place in 17 European cities and 10 countries becoming a symbol of innovation. Therefore, it is joined by more and more people each year, and, importantly, companies. We are delighted that Ukraine, one of the largest countries in Europe, joined it this year”, noted His Serene Highness Prince of Monaco Albert II.
